a new year's eve celebration in grand ledge

As if New Year’s Eve isn’t exciting enough, Angela and Tom chose to make that day even more memorable.  They planned their wedding extravaganza in Grand Ledge, at St. Michael Parish, where Angela is a long time parishioner.   Father James knew both Tom and Angela well and shared lots of funny stories with their guests.  It’s so wonderful when an officiant is well acquainted with a couple… the ceremony becomes extremely personal and unique to them, which is so beautiful to see!   There was an energy in the air and everyone seemed to love every minute of it.  Laughter, tears… who doesn’t love starting the year off right with a wedding?!  This Grand Ledge wedding photographer was incredibly excited to see all of the fun ahead for them!

The day was quite cold… well, of course it was.  It’s December 31st in Michigan!  Some of my most favorite weddings have been in the winter season, though.  There’s just something about the fresh, crisp air… rosy cheeks and noses… it makes everyone want to snuggle!  And I LOVE cozy photos.  The tighter the squeeze, the better, in my opinion.  Angela planned for the cold with a little fur wrap that perfectly complimented her classic, sparkly dress.  She was simply stunning!  Like I said, though, it was very cold.  Her bridesmaids put on a good smile for photos, but I knew this was one session that we’d need to work very quickly.  And we did!  Photos were done in quick bursts, with everyone hopping back inside to thaw in between shots.  They planned for a limo, which was nice and toasty for hitting the park and the Capitol building.  Portrait locations were important to them… the wanted a Lansing feel, with a mix of natural and architectural.  I think it was one of the fastest multi-location shoots I’ve ever pulled off.  All frostbite was avoided- phew!

Here are a handful of favorites from the first part of their long day!  Stay tuned for part two and the party that surrounds the midnight countdown… you don’t want to miss it!  To see more from this Grand Ledge wedding photographer, click here.  See you soon!
