an intimate autumn promise in the woldumar woods

Iris and Kasey have a love story that's rooted partly in their mutual affection for nature and the outdoors.  They planned their wedding at a place they love, Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing.  The massive barn was perfect to ward off the chill that comes earlier in the fall, but the surrounding grounds offered a sweet little escape for some romantic photos.  They chose to have a first look to spend a bit of time together before the ceremony.  The day was warmed by the sun and had that perfect fall crispness in the air.  So cozy!!  We spent a little time in the woods and then it was off to get married in the barn!  Woldumar offers an authentic barn experience for couples wanting some shelter that still feels very organic and natural.  The ceremony was officiated by the bride's mom and she added plenty of personality to their nuptials.  It was short, sweet and personal- just perfect for Kasey and Iris. 

We stole outside again later, this time on the golf cart, for a tour of the pine forest.  I don't try to steer my Woldumar couples to this forest intentionally, however, when they hear me describe it's enchanted qualities, they are usually quickly convinced that it's the place to be.  It's simply one of my favorite natural photo locations in mid-Michigan.  I love the perfect lines of the trees, the texture of the bark and needles covering the ground.  Oh and the scent of the pine is amazing!  It feels very northern to me and offers a good location stamp for anyone getting married in Michigan.  Kasey and Iris got swept up in the awesomeness of this stand of trees and, I think, honestly forgot I was there taking photos.  That's always my secret goal.  :)
